Terms of Use

Last updated · 26 August 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Sunnah Lock ("the App," "we," "us"), an Android application that helps you block distracting or harmful apps, websites and content on your own device, or on a child's device you manage.

By installing or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

The App is published by Abdelazziz Fezani. Read this alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what data the App handles.

Plain English

A subscription unlocks the App's blocking features. It does not give you any right to the App's source code, and it is not a licence to redistribute it.

In-app subscriptions are billed through Google Play, not through us. We never see your card details, and you cancel in Google Play, not in the App.

A one-time founder license bought at sunnahlock.com/founders is billed through Stripe instead. It is separate from the in-app subscription, and access is granted by email rather than through the Play Store.

New subscriptions start with a 5-day free trial. You are not charged during the trial. Billing begins when it ends, unless you cancel before then.

If you installed the App before subscriptions were introduced, you keep what you had, free, permanently. We do not take away features you already have.

The App is a tool, not a guarantee. It cannot catch everything, and it is not a substitute for your own judgment or supervision.

You can always remove the App. No feature of the App may be used to make removal impossible, and none is.

Who may use the App

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and you must be able to agree to these Terms.

The App is designed to be set up by an adult: an adult applying strict mode to themselves, or a parent or guardian configuring a device they are responsible for. If you set up the App on a child's device, you confirm that you have the authority to do so.

Your account

Signing in creates an account through Firebase Authentication. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details and your PIN secure, and for activity that happens under your account.

A linked child's phone signs in anonymously. It holds no account, no subscription and no payment method, and it is never shown a price or asked to pay.

Subscriptions, trials and billing

What a subscription grants

A subscription grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App's paid features on the devices associated with your account, for as long as the subscription is active. It grants nothing else. You may not copy, sell, sublicense, reverse-engineer or redistribute the App.

Plans

Subscriptions are offered on a Personal and a Family plan, each billed monthly or yearly. What each plan includes is shown in the App at the point of purchase. Prices vary by country and are shown to you by Google Play in your local currency before you confirm. The price shown in the App at the moment of purchase is the price that applies.

Free trial

New subscriptions include a 5-day free trial where Google Play offers one. You are not charged during the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts to a paid subscription and billing begins automatically at the price shown at purchase. Trial eligibility is determined by Google Play, not by us, and is generally limited to one trial per subscription per Google account.

Renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. Renewal is handled by Google Play.

Cancelling

You cancel in Google Play, under Subscriptions, not in the App. Cancelling stops future charges. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling during the free trial ends access at the end of the trial.

Refunds

All payments are processed by Google Play and refunds are governed by Google Play's refund policy, not by ours. We cannot issue, reverse or guarantee a refund for a purchase made through Google Play. If you believe you were charged in error, request a refund through Google Play first. You may also have refund and cancellation rights under the consumer law where you live, and nothing in these Terms limits those rights.

Price changes

If we change the price of a subscription, the change applies only to future billing periods, and Google Play will notify you and seek your consent where its policies or your local law require it. A price change never applies retroactively to a period you have already paid for.

Existing installs keep what they had

If you installed the App before paid subscriptions were introduced, your access to the features you had at that time continues free and permanently, for that install and account. You are not required to subscribe, and we will not remove those features from you or place them behind a payment later.

This is a commitment, not a promotion. It has no end date and no conditions attached.

What the App does, and what it does not promise

The App blocks apps, websites, keywords and categories of content that you configure. It ships with a list of adult sites containing 76,678 domains at the time of writing.

The App is a tool and it is not perfect. You should understand the following before relying on it:

  • No blocklist is complete. New sites and apps appear constantly, and content can reach a device by routes the App does not see, including links opened from other apps, private networks, other browsers, other devices and offline media.
  • Android may stop the App's background service, and some device manufacturers restrict accessibility services, battery usage or startup in ways that can interrupt blocking.
  • Screen-time figures come from Android's own Usage Stats API and are only as accurate as Android reports them.
  • Prayer times are calculated on your device from your location and a calculation method you choose. They are an astronomical calculation, not a religious ruling, and they may differ from your local mosque. Where they differ, follow your local mosque.

The App is not a substitute for parental supervision or for your own judgment. It supports a decision you have already made. It does not replace it.

Permissions, and your ability to remove the App

The App requests the Accessibility Service, display-over-other-apps, usage access and, optionally, device administrator permissions. Each is explained in the App before you are sent to Android's settings, and each is explained in our Privacy Policy. You grant them, and you can revoke them.

You can always remove the App. Uninstall protection can make removal deliberately inconvenient, so that a moment of weakness does not undo a decision you made deliberately, but it never makes removal impossible. The App always provides a way out through the unlock method you chose, and it grants three emergency unlocks per install, for the lifetime of that install. No feature of the App may be used to trap you on a device, and if you ever find that it has, tell us at the address below and we will treat it as a defect.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the App to monitor, restrict or surveil an adult without their knowledge and consent;
  • use the App on a device you do not own and are not responsible for;
  • attempt to circumvent, disable or interfere with the App's security, billing or entitlement checks;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile or redistribute the App except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded;
  • use the App for any unlawful purpose.

Using the App to covertly monitor another adult is a misuse of it, and it may be illegal where you live.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the App. If we discontinue a paid feature during a period you have paid for, we will say so in advance and, where we can, through Google Play.

We may update these Terms. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will give reasonable notice through the App or by email. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it, and you may cancel your subscription in Google Play at any time.

We may suspend or terminate access to paid features if you breach these Terms, in particular the acceptable-use section. Where we do, and where the breach was not deliberate, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will block any particular app, site or item of content.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising out of your use of or inability to use the App — including any content the App failed to block.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under consumer protection law that applies to you regardless of contract.
