Quick answer
The best porn blocker app is one you cannot switch off in a weak moment. Sunnah Lock blocks adult content, your own list of sites, extra browsers and apps like X and Reddit, and a person you trust sets the code, so the blocks cannot be removed and the app cannot be deleted without them. It works on iPhone and Android and is free to download.
I make Sunnah Lock, one of the apps below. Prices and features of other apps were checked on each company's own website and app store listings between 28 October and 2 November 2026 and can change.
What makes a porn blocker app actually work?
Almost every porn blocker can filter adult sites. Where they differ is what happens at 1 AM when you want it off. Look for four things:
- Adult content blocked by default, plus your own list for the sites the filter misses.
- The back doors closed: extra browsers, and apps that allow adult content, like X and Reddit.
- Scheduled blocks for the hours you slip, usually late at night or home alone.
- Someone else holds the off switch. If you can turn it off, you eventually will.

1. Sunnah Lock: the off switch is in someone else's hands
Sunnah Lock blocks adult content and your own list of sites, and whole apps and browsers. Block every extra browser on your phone and the apps that let adult content through, like X and Reddit, so there is no side door. Then schedule the strictest blocks for the hours you slip, for example from 11 PM until Fajr.
The part that makes it hold is the code:
Let them set the code that protects your Sunnah Lock blocks. Without that code, blocks cannot be removed or switched off and the app cannot be deleted, so a weak moment has nowhere to go. You never see the code, and you never need to.
Pick a spouse, parent, older sibling or close friend, and ask them to make you wait a day if you ever ask for the code. It works on iPhone and Android, it is free to download, and some features need a paid plan.
2. Covenant Eyes
Covenant Eyes, now sold as Victory, is built around accountability: it takes blurred screenshots and sends reports to an ally, and blocks porn too. It suits people who want their ally to see what happened. Our Covenant Eyes alternatives guide covers it in detail.
3. BlockerX
BlockerX is a dedicated porn blocker with an accountability partner feature that it says makes the app hard to turn off or uninstall. It also runs on Windows and Mac. It is one of the better-known options for both phone and computer.
4. AppBlock
AppBlock blocks apps and websites on schedules, with a Strict Mode. Blocking porn sites is a paid feature, and its own guide says unusual or unsupported browsers might get around it. It suits people who want flexible schedules they manage themselves.
How to set up a porn blocker so it holds
- Download Sunnah Lock on your phone from the App Store or Google Play.
- Turn on adult-content blocking and add any sites you know you go to.
- Block every browser you do not need, and block X and Reddit, app and website.
- Schedule a night block from bedtime until Fajr.
- Hand the phone to someone you trust and let them set the code.
